Yes this is true to a certain extent. They probably already know who are some of the top team players are and who are their bottom players and are just going to try and fill the rest of the roster spots in the first couple months. Valor will tell
you in the beginning that the roster is fluid. IT IS NOT.

Just remember all they want is your money. That is their priority, not developing skilled players.

I can tell you that for the younger boys age groups there is more movement than what you have described. We have seen at least 7 or 8 boys get moved up or down a level, including midseason. We were always given the impression that rosters were not totally fluid, but that movement was possible if was best for the kid and team.

This is where parents need to do an honest assessment of how their kid compares to others. Were they crushing it at tryouts? Are they bigger/faster/stronger than a lot of the other kids? Are they in the pre-travel program and standing out there? If so, there's a good chance they will end up on the first or second team. Was your kid more inconsistent at tryouts? Are they on the smaller side without really good skllls to compensate? Not doing the pre-travel program and thus unknown to the coaches? I know nothing about soccer, but I was still able to guess where my son would end up just by observing those things.

Adjusting a handful of kids up or down just one level when you have 5-6 teams is not "fluid rosters"

We had one kid on our top team that should have never been there. However their parents had 3 kids at the club. 9K worth of revenue so when the parents approached the team wanting their kids to only play on the top teams guess who caved and let a kid on gold?

This kid struggled throughout the years. It took a toll on them and they really stopped enjoying the game.
We finally got a coach who said "no" to them and they ended up leaving the club with all 3 children. Which is what valor was trying to prevent.
Valor is too money hungry to do the right thing. it took a coach saying absolutely no for it to register with the parents that their kid is just not good enough to be on gold.
That player is now on a second team somewhere in the DMV and thriving.
Valor does not have your kids best interest at heart
They only care that your credit card payment clears.

all HS age RL teams do not have a spring season. 05/06 07 08 09s… All.. the lower teams will attempt to have a season with pool players.. this is true of all clubs with RL teams..

I was responding to the PP’s assertion that players never get moved. Truly fluid rosters sound like they would be a mess. You would never know when and where kid’s games would be each weekend.

My dc's likely team still doesn't have a coach listed. Who will select the team? How can we accept a spot on a team without knowing who the coach will be?

Call the valor lead coach and ask him where your child stands. He is a very good coach and will be very honest with you about that. If you are talking girls which I think you are, you really should reach out to him.

Because 09B top team - ENCL R was not told we wouldn't have a spring season. The 2nd and third team do have games. In fact, quoted earlier in this thread was the top team coach in early April still messaging to the parents on the top team that he was working on setting up scrimmages. That went no where. And the third team cannot convince enough of their players to play spring games so the other two teams have been sending kids to play. So at least if a top team player wants to play - they can play with the third team?!

There are multiple age groups with missing coaches. How do you know what agegroup he is talking about?

Still haven't hired coaches for 2015 girl silver, 2013 girl white, 2008 girl gold, 2011 boy white, and 2009 boy white. Tryouts have already begun, how can people make decisions with no coach hired?
