At the public level there is hardly any pay to recruit qualified assistants (let alone HC) so you often get some dad (maybe b/c they are a teacher) to help out despite limited wlax knowledge just because they can’t find anyone qualified.

So it’s a problem beyond rec…

To be clear, I wasn’t saying it is widespread now just growing because you can’t find anyone. My kids have graduated and I just notice how rec has declined and I see a lot of long time coaches in HS but not a bench of young coaches/assistants behind them (as there used to be) which means the parent coach is starting to grow and with it likely the same issues as rec in upcoming years as long time ones leave. The golden days of public HS lax in NoVa are a thing of the past.

Long time coaches stay because they love the game and don’t care for the pennies they get. Most assistant coaches are young and would rather prioritize their social life and invest in things that are worth their time hence why they don’t last past 1-2 years. They too get paid less pennies. Be thankful for the coaches you have in HS, especially the ones who stay long enough to graduate an entire class. We need more coaches as we do officials.

Look at their schedule. 3 out top 5. They are a good team trying to find their grove.

this also isn't very correct as many schools have changed classes and that's not updated on the site.

How are they ranked infront of oakton if they lost to them.

My kids have been coached by the Westfield and counts and if you’re holding up either as parents coaches or in any negative light . . . You’re an idiot.

Parent coaches are, unfortunately in some cases what you’re going to get in rec, JV and some varsity programs going forward. Look below the surface and there are some fantastic coaches in rec and JV that happen to be parents.

Would you rather a parent coach running your varsity program or no one and no varsity program? It’s really coming to that in a lot of cases.

No respect for that program, coach or parents after watching the videos of the centreville and battlefield games. They could win the state championship and I’d turn my back to them.

Well said, they are a program with zero class at all levels. Add in average at best players. especially weak in the defensive and goaltending end.

maybe someone should create a Centerville parents complaining about Langley page?

To be honest, listening to the one Langley, Dad is nothing compared to listening to you all complain after every call. Signed, a parent from one of the other schools that beat you this year.

That’s why they have more D1 commits in those two areas than anyone else in the area? Uh huh. Sure. Beginning to think that the CVille players took dives if y’all going to be that crazy. You can hate the coach, but the facts say the players are strong.

Uh. Hard to believe a Yorktown PP wrote this ^. So I will assume this is a Langley Dad.

Your first paragraph is extremely difficult to comprehend, but if I understand what you are saying...

Has anyone said anything negative about either coach? Everything I see specifically about those two coaches is stating that they are both legitimately talented coaches who do not show favoritism toward their daughters. I don't see any posts here that shed any negative light on these two coaches.
