Total hysterical, knee-jerk move. I plan on going to Philly in May to celebrate my niece's graduation from college. We're going out to dinner and I (vaccinated and boosted) will not comply with any mask mandate to protect those who aren't. This response is totally unnecessary and capricious. |
Completely agree. Muriel Bowser, don't get any ideas. We will no longer comply. |
I fear it's a calculated move to ensure that a Republican wins the next senate seat. |
Ooh What are you going to do about it? Take it out on some underpaid waitress? |
Ridiculous and MoCo better not start thinking about it eiher |
obviously it is because cases are rising and masks are effective at mitigating that. |
Oh you know they are...... |
Actually, it's based on metrics laid out a couple months ago. |
We're just going to have to learn to live with these surges.
There's going to be another after the spring breaks here. There's been a surge at both of my kid's colleges after their March spring breaks. Both put the college back in masks in classrooms through the end of the semester (May). |
Only the unvaccinated are getting it? |
The unvaccinated are getting sicker and dying from it, more than the vaccinated. |
OP. Maybe take our business outside the city. |
Is Philly using different metrics than what the CDC recommended or is their hospitalization rate really that bad? |
They apparently are thinking that by the time hospitalizations go up to the CDC levels, masking isn't going to do that much to stop spread. Perhaps they are concerned with the %140 increase in cases over the last seven days, or the fact that less than 75% of their eligible population has gotten two doses of vaccine and only around 30% of those eligible have gotten boosters. |
In Philadelphia specifically? |
