How much will Biden lose by?

State by state defense or this is BS.

Biden wins the 25 states and DC that he won in 2020, adds NC, and wins NE-2 and ME-2 = 320 EV.

How will neither of them reach 270?

Also did you know it'll be a new Congress by then? So probably not losing by 4 votes. I mean who knows what the future brings, but it's unlikely the next Congress is exactly the same as thing Congress.

Not PP but while the next Congress may not have a Republican majority, the way the vote works in a 269-269 tie or another scenario when neither reach 270 is one vote per state, and Democrats are unlikely to have the majority of state delegations even if they regain the majority as most think they will.

IF we get there, then yeah, Trump will be president, and his VP will be the new vice president. The house is 26-22-2(tie). Even if Ds get the two tie breakers, it will still be 26-24. There are no states where there is a close R-D representative slate that can be flipped D. Short of I don't know, flipping the Dakotas (with 1 rep each), there is no way for Ds to get the majority of state delegations.

Most normie low-info Americans dislike Trump and his chaos; were horrified by the October 7 terror attacks; think Israel has a right to go after Hamas but probably are not too attuned to the civilian suffering; see the campus protests as just something that young privileged American college students do.

Remember, there was so much civilian suffering in the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, under ISIS.....and it really did not move the average low-info normie American to care all that much or change their voting habits. Obama was elected because Bush screwed up in Iraq so badly and then blew-up the economy.

Normie low-info Americans are starting to memory-hole the pandemic, so that leaves a good portion of them with fuzzy positive vibes about the first couple years of the Trump admin on the economic front. Will see how it all shakes out.

But, right now? Biden has the median voter IMHO. Trump is not expanding his base.

Biden, like HRC, just has a lock on most higher income areas. The idea that he has ‘the median voter’ is just lazy inside the beltway rationalization.

Expect painfully low turnout as voters realize both parties are very bad jokes at best…

I know I’m the outlier here, but I actually think turnout will be the highest of all time. Remember, 2024 will be the first election in over 100 years to feature an incumbent president against a former president. No one alive has ever seen this before.

I actually think the consequences of overturning Roe will drive turnout. Women of all ages and political persuasions are enraged. And between now and then, there are going to be a lot more horror stories. It’s going to be everywoman on the news having to be medivaced out of one of the lower 48 for any one of the myriad things that can go wrong. Those women will speak out and their stories will drive clicks.

I disagree. There are about 5-7 swing states that will determine the outcome of the election. And in states like Michigan progressives are indicating they will vote for Kennedy or stay home. It only takes a small margin for Trump to win - a few thousand in each swing state. And young people and progressives are more motivated by Gaza than they are by the roll back in women's rights. For this reason, I think Trump is going to win.

The most recent poll has Gaza ranked 13th of concerns for young voters.
It’s loud and very online, but that’s it.

Agree. Some of the campus unrest is infiltration by “professional” rioters which has obviously made it more dangerous for everyone.

More saliently though, younger voters are concerned about women’s, minorities, and lgbt rights and Trump’s and SCOTUS’ promise to roll them back. All politics is local.

Gaza is about 10,000 on most of our lists to worry about. G

Speak for yourself.

You can care about Gaza if that's your thing. Most voters don't care and/or aren't paying attention to it.

The number of people who vote on foreign policy is incredibly low even when we're at war. It makes people feel dumb. I see no reason why Gaza would be different. It doesn't really impact most voters in the slightest. Even for those who care, when push comes to shove, I'm not sure Gaza alone will be the #1 issue.

I wonder reading these threads how many of you have 17-24yos? They are not excited. Which is a MASSIVE understatement. I know kids who are 18 who have never been to a protest who are refusing Starbucks and other corps who support Israel (I hadn’t even known this was a thing). I know kids who are 18 who say they will sit out their first election. Abortion will be a biggie IF the stars align and they are willing to stand in line for the 3-5 hours it took to vote on campuses in 2020.

Two dysfunctional parties are a disaster for hundreds of millions of Americans and billions worldwide. I’m not apologizing for that, especially not for boomer middlebrows on DCUM.

Pp here. Yeah I have two of them. I’ve seen them go from “I’m not going to vote” and “blow the rotten system up” to alarm that Trump could get re-elected and bring project 2025 to fruition. I don’t think Gaza is going to get most of them to the polls and Trump is hardly the answer on that.

But you’re right that it will be tough to get the vote out among that age group because they seem to have so much going on. As you say, hopefully the stars align.

Our Israel policy is the purest expression of the elite corruption in recent decades AND it’s actually being discussed openly for once, in spite of the aggressive suppression efforts. I wouldn’t count on sort of ‘but it’s never happened before’ saving anyone’s bacon.

I mean college kids aren't excited about anything right beyond finals, parties, and summer. Protest rallies are an activity. The election is 6+ months out. It's not even meaningfully on people's radars right now, let alone college students.

It's higher on the list among key constituencies in places like Michigan.

But posts like this are pointless eight months out. The campaign hasn't even begun. The polls tell us very little.

It IS pretty clear PP is worked up about some fringe issues, however. And, BTW, "Biden" didn't "ban" TikTok. The Congress voted for that. And right-wingers have screamed the loudest about banning it forever.
