Got the email today. It’s not clear what is happening with the girls. |
Not clear what’s happening with the boys either. Will VLC be moving to a multi team per grad year format in order to accommodate the new players? To my knowledge they have always had one team per grad year so this would be a departure. Also unclear how this would affect practice locations and current VLC coaches. |
I wonder if maybe somebody spoofed the OP with a fake email? My son plays VLC and I heard nothing. |
Op here, we also heard from a coach we know. |
So when are tryouts? |
Fake news |
Makes sense. VLC has been looking for ways to grow their pipeline and get penetrate west for awhile now. This move hits both of those and doesn’t put more work on their admins/leadership. The best Cav kids will play on the VLC teams when they begin 5/6th grade and kids will move up/down based on performance as they get older. I don’t see this affecting the existing VLC teams much, except adding depth to their rosters, especially at the younger ages and now positions them to better compete with the MadLax lock-in when kids start club early.. The only question is will rosters flux before HoCo or before Summer? |
I think only Cavs parents have been officially notified as of tonight. I don't know why.
|
Cavs was a dying club. This is not news. The concentration of talent into one team has already happened. This merger basically eliminates a travel team option for kids who are on the cusp. |
If CAV girls are smart time to start putting out feelers to other clubs about open positions (Atleast the ones that are serious about playing). Most likely landing spots will be Stars for the good players, maybe YJMA for less serious players and maybe a few to Pride 3D or True Va |
The current owner leader of Cavs has a kid who plays for VLC so it kind of makes sense. |
VLC parent here. I have heard nothing. I bet that Cavs is folding and encouraging their stronger players to contact VLC and ask for tryouts, and trying to portray it as a merger. |
That makes more sense. I still feel bad for any parent of HS age players as it is too late to change teams as rosters are already set. |
Cavs is not folding just rebranding. Everyone who is on a team will remain on a team. Cavs (i.e. VLC 2) will now have similar access to top events as do Crabs and VLC. After this year I suspect players are consolidated into 1 team per grade year since the motivation of this move is to reduce the dilution of talent in Nova. |
What has been communicated to the girls side of the Cavs program? VLC doesn’t have a girls program so are the CAVs girls included in this merger? |
