Around what ages are teens getting sexually active nowadays?

Same here with 1 or 2 starting at age 17 with boyfriends.
My daughter goes to a girls school so they have very limited contact with boys (which in retrospect has not been the greatest in other ways but great if pushing off sex is a concern!)

It’s like saying the Catholic school teens are abstinent lol

My DD went to Holton. It does not delay anything. I helps during the school day to focus, I will say that and I think in retrospect it made her more of a leader and powerful. But those girls were so boy hungry it was insane. Lots of big house parties, rich drugs/drinking and tons of sex.

my daughter and friends are not going to house parties.

Most 12-15 yr olds are not having sex. Especially if your younger teen is busy with extracurriculars and a rigorous academic schedule, and they aren’t in a relationship, chances are they are not having sex with anyone.

I would love to see a study comparing teens with more extracurriculars and “rigor” with those with less, and age of first sexual activity. My bet is the difference won’t be statistically significant.

NP. I don't know. The ones I know of in the middle school already into all the things have a whole lot of time on their hands in pretty lightly supervised environments.

Not saying other kids don't find a way if they are so inclined.

This is similar to what I have seen as well. The kids with lots of time on their hands and inadequate supervision, are into all sorts of things (and not just sex, vaping, drinking, etc.). The ones with lots of time on their hands but parents who don't try to be their friends are considerably less likely to engage in all fo the above.

Ask any middle schooler what after-school clubs and the late bus are for.

Perhaps I am a square prude, but I am wondering where these kids are having sex? In the bushes?

It’s happening in public too. Huge party with Churchill students last weekend. At least 200 kids.

OP, teens have sex, even some as early as middle school but to ask the average is lost on you. No one knows what each individual is going to do. You have to worry and parent about your kids only.

Yes, but there are plenty of teens that are open about these things with their parents.

Sure, there are plenty of them who are not. Let's say that 50% of parents claiming to know about their kids' sex lives (or lack there of) are wrong. That still leave a LOT of kids.

I did not have sex in high school. My husband did not. My best friend in high school did not either. Two of my current closest adult friends did not either (we're open about this as we're all parenting teens.) Heck, even my next door neighbor didn't (yes, we're pretty good friends and also both have teens and she is very open about being "a very late bloomer".)

There are posters on here posting the agenda that "ALL TEENS HAVE SEX".
Studies don't show this, anecdotal reports don't show this.

Stop trying to justify your own kids' behavior as the universal truth.

There are far more moms who “believe” they know everything their teens do than there are moms who actually know everything their teens do.

If you believe “my child certainly tells me everything!” well,

- you just go right on believing that and I wish you luck.

Yeah my 20 something oldest who was so good and so open with me, really opened my eyes last summer (when we went on a girls trip) that I was kinda clueless and she still admitted she told me more than most of her friends did to their parents at the time.

And I get it. I did the same even though I was a good kid. No is is a straight shooter to their parents and phones add a whole different layer to that.

Nah! Their cool soccer moms are letting them do it in the backseat of their minivans when they are chauffeuring them around.

Isn't that age appropriate? Their brains haven't fully matured. There is a reason they can't smoke/drink till age 18/21 depending on the country.

I cant tell if you're being sarcastic, but the scene in Shameless when Fiona was F-ing that dad in the mini van and she got butt stuck in a stale peanut butter sandwich comes to mind.

When I was in HS the rumor was that 2 kids did it on the gym teacher’s desk after school.

What about that is age appropriate? I wouldn't want my kid to do these things and would be pretty angry if they used the boredom excuse.

Nope. Immersed in both environments. If that’s a Catholic private school, not the case. Of course, there will be outliers but for the most part the Catholic private school kids are, in fact, more innocent.

A good 50% of the girls at both Holton and NCS (I had and have multiple girls at one) who will graduate having never gone to a "house party." Then there's about 10% that have been drinking heavily and going to weekend parties since 9th grade. They're known as the popular girls and have no doubt they're doing all sorts of things with boys because they're alone with them and copious amounts of alcohol on many weekends. There are a ton of other girls who never leave their homes or the library on a weekend night for the entire 4 years. Or the craziest outing they have is a dinner out or movie with (female, platonic) friends.

Not all teens are skanks.

This is the dumbest comment I’ve read in a long time

Their brains are not fully myelinated until age 25. They make dumb decisions and need supervision. People think I am crazy for looking sideways at the concept of sleepovers, but I guess I am following the neuroscience. I also do not want my kids getting into marijuana in their teens either. Very strong correlation with early marijuana use and schizophrenia.
