From my very limited experience with family members of that age, after diagnosis, facing the public would be out of the question

Not so fast. My mother has Stage IV pancreatic and has done very well on chemo and goes out in public all the time. She has lost all her hair, unlike Charles, and at her recent PET the chemo has shrunk all her tumors. Treatment is getting better all the time. Why does Charles still have a full head of hair?

Because that picture is probably from six months ago?

They specifically said it was taken 4/10 and named the photographer. They’re giving all the right info to keep clean from kp’s fumbles.

A friend in the UK had chemo after a whipple procedure for pancreatic cancer and it was a kind that didn't affect her hair. She's still living 7 years later with no evidence of cancer.

It probably wasn't chemo and was immunotherapy or radiation. But again we have no idea what he has or what his treatment is but it doesn't appear to be chemo becuase of the hair situation.

My friend just went through 5 rounds. She wore this ice pack thing on her head the whole time. It was $$$. It’s not that she’s vain but more that it was depressing to her to lose her hair too on top of everything else. Her hair is still thick and long so I must have worked.

+1. Also have a friend who did the ice pack procedure and kept her hair. It was fine and short but hair is important to self-esteem.

Unfortunately the ice pack treatment did not work for my sister.

What does that have to do with this thread?

It was a continuation of an earlier conversation. Don’t be so mean.

He should have known he was tempting fate by using the name Charles. It’s cursed!

Like, one of the more well-known ones claimed Kate’s abdominal surgery was her donating a kidney. When it comes down to it, none of them know anything of importance. They’re fed gossipy tidbits and that’s all they’ve got. I would hope that especially after the completely off-base stories recently that people would realize they’re just making things up. But I fear that will soon be forgotten when the next juicy story comes out.

+1. Often it’s clear these so-called “experts” and “insiders” are just speculating (“Will and Kate won’t want to meet Harry when he comes to Britain”).

But outlets like the DM are desperate for royals coverage these days, so these so-called “experts” and “insiders” are making bank.

But the BRF likes for it to be this way. They have these tabloid publications on the royal rota. They would rather have these tabloids out there reporting a mix of truths and falsehoods, and the ability to plant stories without them having to be verified since it's all reported anonymously, than become irrelevant.

Or risk getting photographed actually working? Charles gets it but Will doesn’t.

The royal rota has existed long before Will reached adulthood. The BRF including Charles relies heavily on the tabloids to remain relevant. They all read them obsessively. It's a little sad honestly.

What happened to your friend of a friend has nothing to do with Charles good Lord. Stop centering yourself in someone else’s trauma.

Especially as they likely assumed that they could raise at least George a little more privately until he was out of school without him being imminently in line for the throne.

From his birth George has been imminently in line for the throne.

You need to run that sentence through grammerly and a history book.

Aaanyway, it was nice to see Charles hugging Zara at that horse show. She looked genuinely happy — not an expression you use for an uncle who’s “very unwell.”

Theoretically, when hugging a dying relative (not saying he is, just saying your certainty is illogical), you are not going to be a basket case in front of them, that would be rude.

Praying for what? What are you hoping for?

King Charles wants a family united. He’ll do all he can to achieve harmony among the heirs & BRF. Only then may he rest in peace.
