Where does it say that a student can refuse to take a high school math SOL if they have a verified math credit?

We asked the testing coordinator at DCs school. According to them, it’s a federal participation requirement unrelated to graduation. There is no benefit to the student but they don’t tell you that because they want as many students as possible to test.

Do you know if students actually do this? (e.g., not taking a high school math SOL)

IN online world yes.
Students need to take and pass the SOL in order to graduate. They at least need to try and take. Some kids will be able to pass the SOL with they score between 375-399 in SOL. They will be given a local verify credit . If they fail a SOL and score below 375- they are other test they can take instant of the SOL. If they pass the Algebra 1 sol won't take the Geometry or Algebra 2 SOL, but they need to pass one, same goes to the other subjects.

SOL are hard for SPED kids and ELL kids, most general ed kids will have no problem passing the SOL.

Thanks. Sorry, I should have been clearer. I was asking about students who already have a verified credit in math from middle school. Do any of them actually not take a high school math SOL in practice?

Nope, that is one of the reasons high school sol score dropped.

less kids are taking the Geometry, Algebra II SOLS, AS Well as
the Chemistry and Earth Science.

The math SOLs are tricky because of the high school requirement. If your child has been assigned a location for non testers then she does not need it. If you aren’t sure just ask the counselor. Don’t risk your kid’s high school graduation based on the opinion of a bunch of strangers on the internet.
