“Homeschoolers are weird”

Your experience clearly does not reflect the larger societal experience. The only homeschooled people (kids) I knew growing up were religious fundies who were absolutely weird, annoying, lacked social skills, talked down to normal kids and were quite far behind in actual intelligence and learning. They seemed to feel superior to others but really had nothing or any justification to back it up.

If you think about the how much the average public school kids sucks, yeah, homeschooled kids are generally not like that.

It comes from ignorance. Or envy, because their government-schooled kid isn’t reading at grade level.

+1. never heard of it but if you do, react as yoi would if a child wrre making fun of a sn kid

Nothing is weirder than the sloppy, slovenly (often odiferous), sexually confused and low test score horde flushed out of public school graduation ceremonies.

The only interactions I had growing up were with mormons. The girls were all married off at 17/18 as soon as they "graduated". I don't think they actually did any actual education, it was a religious education and a wife/mom-to-be school. Really sad how their lives turned out.

Most I have met are religious and uneducated.

Your statement is absurd.

Just like Public or Private school homeschooling has challenges.

Mostly from religious garbage curriculums.

It comes from the religious fundamentals or people with more extreme views on things. I do think that the stereotype is changing a lot thanks to virtual schools, homeschooling programs, etc.

This is true, actually. My wife homeschools our four kids. Most people would consider us to be "zealous". So what, I guess?

Interestingly, my teacher friend and family have been very encouraging and supportive of me homeschooling. They acted as consultants and advisors when I was starting out. My youngest is in high school now and I facilitate his education. He chooses his classes and mode of learning. We are non religious democrats.

There are secular options, you know.

Intelligent, interesting, with unique passions is weird.

Be an outliner in society including not recognizing that they are, and wondering why they aren't accepted by all people whom they have rejected.

You only knew a few homeschooled kids growing up yet you judge all by your admittedly limited experience. Ironic, wouldn’t you say?
