 as the guitarist and lead singer for Grand Funk Railroad\, as well as 
 the songwriter for most of their material. He wrote the iconic "I'm Yo
 ur Captain (Closer to Home)," "Some Kind Of Wonderful," and the hit "B
 ad Time," which became the last of the band's four singles to reach th
 e top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. By 1971\, Grand Funk achieved a majo
 r milestone by equaling the Beatles' Shea Stadium attendance record an
 d selling out the venue in just 72 hours\, whereas the Beatles' concer
 t took weeks to sell out. \n\nFarner is of Native American descent and
  received the Lakota Sioux Elders Honor Mark in 1999. Members of the L
 akota Nation later honored him with a hand-made ceremonial quilt. He w
 as also awarded the Cherokee Medal of Honor by the Cherokee Honor Soci
 ety.\n\nABOUT DAVID SPERO\nDavid Spero\, a rock-radio pioneer since th
 e 1970s\, is a highly regarded music manager known for his work with i
 conic artists such as Michael Stanley\, Ringo Starr’s All-Star Band\
 , Joe Walsh\, Yusef Islam (formerly Cat Stevens)\, Dickey Betts\, The 
 Funk Brothers\, The Raspberries\, Ted Neeley\, and Harry Nilsson\, amo
 ng others. He is credited with bringing the Eagles back together. Humb
 le Pie credits David with playing a pivotal role in breaking their ban
