DESCRIPTION:The Journey School is a newly formed non-profit (501c(3) p
 ending approval) middle school beginning in August 2015\, serving ages
  12 – 14 located in Ashton\, Maryland. This unique middle school pro
 gram is based on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori and features w
 ork with the land and community. Students will participate in service 
 learning and internships with local businesses and farms as well as be
  responsible for care and maintenance of the school’s physical envir
 onment and equipment. In addition\, students will engage in a school b
 ased micro economy where they will learn about economic independence a
 nd financial responsibility. Following the Montessori methodology\, le
 ssons will be fully integrated\, hands-on\, and project based.
