The City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts is pleased to announce that it was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to fund its community Artist Residency Program. The Artist Residency Program integrates visual and performing artists in the community to conduct interactive art engagements at the Waterfront Park public art initiative Site See. As part of the Artist Residency Program, Jane Franklin Dance was selected to bring interpretive movement pieces inspired by the artwork to the Waterfront Park.

The Czech Embassy will host an evening of Czech Legends and Mythical Creatures for young children on October 17, 2023. (Book session below.) Ever heard of the Bogeyman, the Forest Demon, Water Goblin, Rusalka, or the Noonday Witch? Join us for a glimpse into Czech fairytales and folklore. An introduction to Czech mythical creatures will be followed by a walk, intended for children’s amusement, through the haunted forest upon the grounds of the Czech Embassy. Pondering Czech legends, adults will enjoy understanding the origins and explanations behind the most notorious, intriguing, and a few lovable, fictitious yet legendary sprites, spirits, and ghosts. This event is intended for children ages 5-10 years old. It is a children’s event, as part of the Mutual Inspirations Festival 2023 – Eliška Junková.
