The World & Me: Ocean Clean-up Crew with Special Guest Susan Stockdale by admin, last updated: Feb 01, 2025 12:15 AM
Join us for a special edition of The World & Me at the Sant Ocean Hall with guest author and artist Susan Stockdale! In this engaging event, Susan will read from her latest picture book, Don’t Eat the Cleaners, and share how she created the book with the help of museum scientists. This marks her ninth book illustrated with research from the museum. Children will discover how ocean animals visit “cleaning stations” at coral reefs, where cleaner fish and shrimp help remove parasites in exchange for a meal, teaching the golden rule: Don’t Eat the Cleaners! Susan will guide young attendees as “picture detectives” to explore the transformation of her illustrations, inspiring them to create their own books. Throughout the event, museum educators will lead hands-on activities in the exhibit. Families are welcome to join at any time and stay as long as they like. Scheduled reading times with Susan Stockdale are at 10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Following the readings, Susan will be available for a book signing in the Explorer Theater. Books will be available for purchase, though they are not included with the program.
