Subject: Temporary changing au pair room?
We “asked” au pair if brother in law could have her room while
He was visiting and she was away on a vacation week. I would have been visibly annoyed if she said anything other than “of course”. I haven’t asked when she is there. Don’t know. I’d probably shift my kids rooms so they share.

Am I the only that thinks 1 - 2 week visit is a long time. And OP how come you don't know the specific length of your sister's visit?
I hadn’t even thought of that... 1-2 week play date? Yeah, no...

When my au pair's family comes to visit they need to stay in her room with her and i have a 1-week max limit. All rules regarding quiet apply. I have a 1200 sq ft ranch house and all noise can be heard. I do have white noise machines in each room.
I assume you are the single HM otherwise where does DH sleep?
I am single and my boyfriend(s) sleep with me on the sofa in the living room or he(they) stay in their own home when i have visitors who present space problems.

OP I would not ask Au Pair to move. I would figure out another way.

Subject: Temporary changing au pair room?
OP has a guest room. She can put the other kids in her kids rooms on air mattresses and give the adults her room or put them all in her room and she take the guest room.
