Yes, this thread is a few years old, but it's still nice to see that there are some AMAZING nannies out there, and parents who go out of their way to show their appreciation.

Um you realize the $1 raise, which you said is 10%, means her previous salary was $10/hr and she is now making $11. Since you live in the DC area, you have a $1200 bonus, AND you pay $10 an hour you are obviously a troll.

And how much % raise is your $1/hr? Is that sustainable? Accurate for the market?

Thanks This is our first nanny experience and I feel so incredibly lucky to have found someone like our nanny. After reading posts here I was worried the nanny/employer relationship was hopeless, but our nanny and I have become "friends" in the way that an employer and employee can. I send her picture of our son on weekends and holidays and she sends me pictures if she goes on vacation. I truly like her as a person, which is helpful, and we try to show and tell her as much as humanly possible what an awesome job she is doing.

I guess I am a terrible boss. I gave my nanny presents. And paid days off for xmas and new year. And invited her to share xnas with us when her plans fell through. But I don't give cash at xmas. She gets an annual bonus of 2 weeks salary on her anniversary with us.
