Tell that to everyone working in fast food, meat packing plants, house keepers, people who bartend and wait tables, nail salon techs, cleaners, and drivers for Amazon. Somehow people manage - and sometimes that involves government assistance.

Especially, those of you that want to offer $16 an hr (in this area at that!) and believe $25-$30 an hr is outrageous. We care for your child/children, drive to school/activities, teach, care for them when sick, meal prep/cook, laundry, keep house tidy and try to make your lives a little easier when you come home. It’s a tough career but there are those of us that take it seriously and have a passion for it. So, please, make me understand!!!!!!
Oh, and FYI, the going rate is $25-$30 for the DMV area! And honestly, still isn’t enough for those of you selfish parents that hire us nannies for the wrong reason (SLAVERY)!!!
There are some really good nannies that do all of the above, but those are rare and are worth the money. Those are the nannies that parents with high pressure jobs feel comfortable leaving their children for days at a time while on work trips. The nannies that I tend to see are the ones at the park ignoring the kids. $25 for that type of care is unreasonable.
