It was occasional babysitting, evenings/weekends/etc. I would never use them. They sent me on so many jobs that I was not qualified for. It was a complete disaster and their fees were a total racket for the families.

Where are these nannies looking?
Mostly probably word-of-mouth. I doubt agencies in the DC area know how to represent elite professional nannies.

Go through them.
I make the same as you and I found my job through them. I never found them to be stuck up. In fact, they helped me work through a difficult situation during my transition from one family to another.
Don't they "encourage" their best nannies to stick to $22/hr at the most?
They told me the range that “most” nannies get but also said that the negotiation of salary and benefits were between the family and me. Why would they encourage you to stick to that range (especially the lower end) when they make their money off of commission based on your salary? I obviously can’t speak for others but I personally enjoyed working with them and found a job within a decent timeframe.
I can only imagine they "encourage" their "creme de la creme" nannies to stick to that range so they can convince their potential clients that their nannies are totally "affordable"!
The question we should all be asking is:
If the "salary negotiation is between the family and the nanny", why are they "encouraging" a price range in the first place?
What does everyone think about this?
Something smells fishy about how they operate.
Actually, they sound outright dishonest. Sorry.

Exactly. Not all nannies earn 30-35, but some certainly do. So why would the best nannies settle for WH average rates?
