Op and husband have several options:

1. Either of them put career on hold till the youngest is in school full time

2. Put the kids in public school to cut costs.

3. Join a nanny share and only put the baby in the share.

4. Pay the nanny what she's worth and keep a happy life

It seems to me that the op and her husband want private education, private (full time and overtime) nanny, and to not pay out the nose for it, and it's not really feasible.

No, I'm guessing it's more like my own situation, where we can afford to spend a lot on childcare, but my husband could not really care less because he doesn't give much thought to the daily lives of the children. The nanny is mostly for me and what I want for our kids. My husband would gladly stuff them in daycare for 11 hours a day.

or move to any other industrialized county in the world where they have government funded, quality, affordable childcare... because they value both families and working women as an integral part of their country's future success. Imagine that.

It is absolutely abysmal and unconscionable that our government has brainwashed Americans to believe you should have to choose between having children (which secures the future of our country) or being able to pay our bills (99% of this country cannot afford to pay their nanny or daycare $50,000+)

An example, Japan's financial stability is quickly declining, because they don't have enough of a younger generation to pay taxes and social security to their retirees. It has become the #1 problem in the country.

$19 per hour is not a low hourly rate for this area; just among *some* of the nannies who post regularly on this board. But, on the other hand, when nannies hear 3 kids, even if only for 2.5 hours a day with the rest one kid, they do worry. Some kind of a raise would be appropriate, and you should just negotiate with her.
