In all fifty states, it is legal to have a camera in your home , hidden or not.
You do not have to disclose this by law.

Audio, on the other hand is illegal in 13 “two-party” states.

You are required to a.)Fully disclose to a person that they are being audio recorded and b.)Receive consent from the other party either by having them sign a consent form or recording them saying they give consent.

If you don’t have tangible proof that they consented to the audio, then you will get in trouble later on if sued.
The other party can say they never consented to audio and you would have zero evidence that they did.

I would never hire a nanny who wouldn't accept the presence of cameras. Period.

As a nanny I would never accept cameras. Do you all mothers have cameras at work that monitor your every move? Respect your nannies. And if you do not trust them around your home do not hire them and trust with your kid at the first place. What re you gonna do? Put cameras at the park, libraries or any other place the nanny takes your kids?

I've employed MANY nannies in the last 4 years and I can tell you I am being very generous with my assumptions of what they actually do.

Then I was right. You've employed sitters, not nannies. There's a huge difference.
