I'm a nanny and I think others are being too harsh.

If you truly dislike he nickname let her know, and ask her to find something else to call him.

But try to avoid being a micromanager.

Our nanny has several cute nicknames for our DD. It never occurred to me to be bothered by it.

Anonymous wrote:She started calling him this little name when he was an infant because of something he used to do. I never said anything about it at the time. Now, at 1.5 yrs she pretty much calls him this innocuous nickname all the time. It is like "Bear" or "Bug" (obviously neither of those). I don't like the nickname and I don't like that she has a special name for my son.

Is this my problem? Is there anything I should do about it or should I just get over it?

TIA

This "issue" is about YOU and not what is best for your kid. What people like you don't get is your jealous petty thought process will cause you to either drive the nanny away or you will make up excuses to fire her. Consistency is what is best for kids. You want a nanny who is not attached and not bonded, but this is what you child needs.

For one.moment in your life, just one, don't be so.self absorbed.
