A $50k bonus! Wow. Just wow. Never heard of anything close to that for a nanny job. Some super generous employers out there!

Employer here

Location - Silver Spring, MD

Length of employment - 1.5 years

Weekly salary - $315 for 40 hrs in a share (other family pays $400)

Bonus - $300, we also gave her some extra days off

Gifts - not for Christmas but gave her a nice necklace the week before for her birthday

Comments - she gave me a big thank you today and said how much she appreciated the bonus.

That's a nice gift, pp, and you're wise to look at the big picture (total compensation plus working conditions) instead of dwelling on the lack of a bonus.

I am happy with my bonus. I have only worked for these families for six months so expected $200 from each and got more. I am a relatively inexperienced nanny (3 years exp.) so I feel the salary and bonus are appropriate.

PPs are correct. Nannies who suggest that MBs have never had a job and can't take care of their children are the real trolls here and should be embarrassed by their stupidity.

Location - Ellicott City, MD

Length of employment - almost a year (I started in January)

Weekly salary - $500 after taxes (4 hours a day - 2 before school and 2 after) 4 days a week + 1 overnight
(I often work extra hours, so it's usually more than that, but this is my base salary)

Bonus - $500

Gifts - spa gift card ($150), slippers "from the dog" and a coat with wolves "from another dog" (I love wolves and they know it), coffee mug "I woke up like this - flawless" and a framed picture of the kids that I absolutely love and I will keep forever.
Also a coffee mug from grandma (I knew about it - I asked my boss once where she got the coffee mug she had at her house - google kokopelli if you want to see the style) and one other thing we both like and of course cards from both grandma and my boss

Comments - I absolutely love everything and I'm so grateful for such an amazing family. I know they appreciate me a lot and I give them a 100% in everything I do. I get a lot of time off (paid) - since I started in January, I probably had 6 weeks off. In addition, my boss switched her schedule when my friend invited me to Disney World (Harry Potter!! ), just so I could go. I tried to convince them all to come as well, but they had other things planned so they couldn't.
My job comes first so I'm always available for them as well.
I didn't take any days off (except my vacation).
I plan to stay there for as long as they need me and I know we will always stay in touch.
Someone said "do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life". This is exactly where I am right now. I love my job and I love what I do.

BTW, I'm the nanny who posted on another thread (or two) about buying a lot of things for them.

Comments: to be honest I was expecting SOMETHING...they're very thoughtful, always say thank you, and seem to genuinely appreciate me. Usually I get guaranteed hours now after I asked for it, so even if I work only 18 hours, I get paid..which is nice. However, the week they didn't need me because they went on vacation, I didn't get paid at all. I wish it was a for sure thing 52 weeks of the year, but that's what part time jobs mean sometimes I guess.
