I make 12 dollars an hour to take care of three kids. It's not the worst job in the world, but I do work my ass off to keep them stimulated, happy, loved, and safe. It's not a sitting on my butt job at all.
Ugh. I hate when people say that!! You're right, most of the time it's people who have never taken care of kids solo one day in their life, so they have no idea how difficult and tiring it actually can be!! I especially hate when people say, "Oh what a fun job! You get to play with kids all day!" or something similar. It's like, yeah it's fun for sure because I love the kids, but it's not all playing and being silly--there are a million little things to get done each day outside of taking care of the kids, which I don't think people think about either.
Yes exactly!!! Is it fun sometimes? Do I love the kids? Of course! But it is a job. It can also be stressful and overwhelming. It takes a lot of mental energy (and sometimes physical if the baby won't let me put her down all day lol).
The other day we were discussing jobs class and I mentioned what I did. This girl goes, "Wow I'd kill to trade with you I have a 12 hour shift tomorrow." I told her I did also. She said, "Yeah well I work in an adult care center at least you don't have to clean up their poop." I explained that yes, actually I do- 2 aren't potty trained yet. She then said, "Oh well it's baby poop that's different."
Jesus, whine much? We all have jobs and we all get tired. I have no interest in competing to see who has it worse.
