I was the nanny of this adorable baby boy until he was two - and then they had to start him in daycare when the father didn’t finish his dissertation in time and their savings ran out. I was upset but remained close to my charge, seeing him every week, and when the father finished and got a job, they had a second child and made me her Godmother.
They are close friends now and I’m still very close to my charge and my Godchild.
Op here. I am so happy that they were good people and you were able to stay present in their lives! I am praying that I never lose touch with them. It would break my heart. If only all nanny family stories could end like yours!!!

+2. Good for the nanny and so good for the child.

Hi OP here I’m great thank you! I’ve seen my former charges 3 times since my last day. I did a date night, after school day/ pick up and went to take the oldest for a little date with me for his birthday over the weekend.
I’m interviewing with a few schools and families and my former employer expressed that if I get something for the first part of the day to let her know if I need hours to supplement my income and they will have me still get them from school here and there and watch them.
So, if theh can afford date nights, why can't they afford to keep you. They are liars!

They did one date night and a work dinner. Affording a sitter is very different from being responsible for someone’s entire livelihood.
If money is tight, you Don't waste it by going out to dinner for any reason. OP was screwed by them and she is a cool for letting them use her for their convenience now.
Fool not cool.
I couldn’t disagree more. OP sounds extremely bright to me and truly loves her former charges. She wasn’t screwed - the job ended. All nanny jobs end. OP is going to get a great reference and an ongoing relationship with the children she helped raise.
You could learn from her, PP.
