Also, as a federal government employee, I can vouch that there's no time and a half or double time and a half pay for anything.

Im a Government employee earning double time and a half today because its a holiday....so it certainly is a holiday.

What agency do you work for? I'm a government employee and do are many of my friends. None of us get double time or any perks working the day after thanksgiving. It is a regular pay day. If we want it off, we have to take a vacation day.

That said, if Friday is not a day that your nanny is supposed to work, you can't require her to work on that day.
