90% of nannies are legal

Thoughts on this topic now that deportation of many nannies is a real possibility? I haven’t heard any word on punishing employers, has anyone?

I agree, but half of Washington workers would have to stay home without their illegal domestic workers. They'd have to babysit their own kids and scrub their own toilets.

and this employers have the right to hire these women thats why it happens, hire starving people and treat them like slaves,

I met another nanny in Clarendon from India, the same case the American Embassy empoyees, so this nanny the same very long hours and since the Mom was pregnant she had to sleep with the girls so that meant no good rest, very low salary, how convenient for this families to hire these poor women and have them work like this, these nannies talk to us at parks and tell us their horror stories but we cant do anything about it, just listen, this family left to Russia also and her sister went with them and the same treatment in Russia, what a shame

I met once a Colombian nanny in Clarendon that worked for a family as a live in nanny, she had to buy her groceries because they had no food for her, no schedule she worked all the time, her salary was very low, the family worked for American Embassy and they were going to be transferred to Russia, so she didnt go but ended with another family that was as bad or worse, I thought slavery was over, the little girl called her nanny not even her name, so I wonder she must of been really poor in her country so these families just take them for a ride because they know they are soo needy how sad a shame on those employers

Yes this. We had a terrible time finding a nanny willing to be paid on the books and ended up having to find another form of child care instead.

But you must pay more. More more more. Pay your nanny more. More money, more money. What aren't you understanding here? There is minimum wage and then there is DCUM nanny wage. You know that.

It is actually smart and cost effective as private prisons are self-supporting/money making not to mention fines for all the back taxes. It would certainly end our problems with undocumented workers coming to the US for tax-free jobs.

I totally get where OP is coming from. I get so tired of Republicans screaming about the "illegals" and never saying one word about the employers of these "illegals" who are also breaking the law.
