I apologized profusely. The funnies to me is DB works right by moms house and he called in because of the weather being bad, especially over there. MB worked by my house ( 10 away from work) and she called in as well. My house got way more soon than my moms too. They asked me to stay until 7:30 so I did. Even though I live 10 away, it took me an hour to get home on just 1 bus.

I felt like I did out in effort and I did go in. No effort would be me calling off instead of trying to get there. MB is still not talking to me much, not is DB.

Glad you could help them that day

I don't find anything too funny. It is incredibly difficult to work at home effectively with children running about. so get over that. And of course they didn't go in to the office, they had no idea if their nanny was going to make it in, when. so get over that too.

The funny part was neither actually worked. I was there while they did laundry, cleaned up, furbished their place ( its a new home), and MB cooked dinner while DB watched tv. I put the baby to bed and then left.

So they did house work instead of work work... so?

I live in Chicago. I'm no troll. The reason I was over there was because my father got stuck in another state flying home from a business trip. He arrived home Monday evening so I was not needed. If you must know, my mom had a stroke last week so I stayed to look after her. My mother is more important than a job.

You went back home but your mom can't be alone on her own home? Either you are changing details in hopes more people feel bad for you or you're a troll

Are you in NY or Chicago , OP?

I thought you said Chicago.

Anyway, I'm glad you made it to and from work safely.

Now would be a good time to formulate a plan for the next storm, and communication with MB & DB.

So OP, what gives? Did you make it into work? What was your NF like?

What time did you get home at night? Was it safe to be walking alone that late? Or irresponsible?

The trains were running by evening rush hour, I took the train home at my usual time.
And I am out on the streets of NY many nights after dark alone, it's totally ok but thanks for the concern.

OP, the weather situation is beyond your control. There is absolutely nothing you can do about a bad weather situation. Nothing. It is all in Mother Nature's hands at this point.

To offer to work free OT hours is just creating a slippery slope (no pun intended) that will make you appear desperate and easy to take advantage of later on.

For them to expect you to come in to work despite the bad weather speaks volumes about them as employers. They appear to be very self-centered and seem to only be focused on their own needs, safety and therefore comfort.

I understand you need this position and all, but you may want to re-think the stress that will be involved in the long run by working for such a couple who seem to not have any empathy for a nanny who is fighting tooth and nail against Mother Nature to get to work during one of the Nation's worst winter storms.

I'm confused. You posted at 11 your time saying you were walking. You were supposed to be there at 8:30. What were you doing from 8am until 11am? Why were you updating them every hour?
Others were harsh, but true: it sounds like you wanted a snow day and kept hoping if you stalled long enough, your MB/DB would tell you not to come in.

No need for an apology here, I'm an adult, I have a job, my job was not closed that day and, thus, I did what I had to to be there.
