Bumping an old thread so you can again say Pay Me Mire Money mantra.

The only way I have overpaid anyone is if I see them outperforming. Outperforming their rank and outperforming their basic duties. Then I overpay, not at the onset. At onset I pay market until you prove yourself.

Good strategy when you hire newbies without references.

Oh- please don't be so short sighted. You guys pat yourselves on the back for a dollar figure- but your job is leading nowhere. If you don't have a degree- then it's awesome. But please think about your retirement, pension, job protection, professional development.
I was a nanny and will go back to the job (note- not career) once my vested pension maxes out and I have a set figure in my 403b.
Your job is fun and helps the families- but please don't lose sight of the fact that it's essentially part time work.
