Subject: Parents coming home late

I strongly suggest all of you other sitters to stick up for yourself in a similar way (6 hours late?! Um, no)
I agree with everything you said except calling children "littles"! What the hell are littles? Children are not littles!

That’s a terrible thing to say. As I wrote earlier, I’m paid for 40hrs but only usually work around 25 BECAUSE THE PARENTS ARE HOME WITH THEIR KIDS. They’re usually going out at night to events. The parents are wonderful and involved.
I think the point is more that if you don’t know if or when the parents will be home for bedtime, neither do the children. This is not good in any scenario, PP, regardless of whatever else good they do.

That’s a terrible thing to say. As I wrote earlier, I’m paid for 40hrs but only usually work around 25 BECAUSE THE PARENTS ARE HOME WITH THEIR KIDS. They’re usually going out at night to events. The parents are wonderful and involved.

If I have something planned, I will ask if they will be late that day and usually they can give me an answer. Both parents are in the film industry so it’s not a normal job and I know they’re on set and can’t leave, not out shopping or whatever. I generally don’t make plans during the week unless the person is cool that I might have to cancel. Weekends I go out. It’s worth it to me for the pay,

Late fees and a 3 strike policy.
I knew people who just budgeted for late fees. The 3 lates and you're out policy set them back on their heels. They had a nanny quit after their third time being late. It took them six whole weeks to lose her.

Do you think this only happens with wealthy people? The parents who were always late were strictly middle class (and low rent).

(And let's not turn this into evil MB always late and never pays me because yes, it's a given we should be paid for additional time and our time should be respected. We're talking when for whatever reason the parents are late without letting us know in advance).
They have a time to come home just as you have a time to arrive in morning. Are you habitually late? No . So why do you put up with them being late. I would not. Your MB may not be evil but she has no respect for you.

Call or text. No response? Call the emergency contact or CPS. I would assume there had been a serious issue.
