She worked for us for almost two full weeks after she gave us notice, but we told her we didn't need her Thursday and Friday of the second week and that we would send a check. We never mailed her a check and she never contacted us again to request it. She knew she didn't deserve it. Maybe you can try this?
Would you be ok working and your employer not pay you?
If I didn't deserve it. If it wasn't working out and I was a lazy bum and I was just coming in and sitting at my desk twittering my thumbs I wouldn't feel I deserve my paycheck just for getting out of bed and driving in.
If you didn't deserve it and slacked off you should be fired. But if you come to work then yes you should be paid for each hr worked even while twittering you thumbs. That's what management is for and firing someone on the spot not this we don't like you but stay till January then your fired crap.
Sorry I disagree. To each their own.
Anonymous wrote:OP, just wanted to say I support you. Getting sick is one thing, but if my nanny was sick once a week for 2 months I would fire her too no matter how good she is. Reliable is a requirement for us and if you aren't reliable because you have a horrible immune system and your extended family is at that age where they are dying off then it is just not a good time for us to work together.
Anonymous wrote:Wow I'm so glad you're not my boss. I had to take 3 sick days right after I switched from pt to ft with my current family due to complications of a surgery, then my grandma passed away 1 day after I returned my bosses have me 2 days off to grieve (offered more but I wanted to be back at work) then mb got me sick, just like op got her nanny sick, and mb gave me two days off with pay and didn't use it against my sick days because she got me sick. I've been there 5 months and just spent a week in the hospital due to a severe infection. My nanny family didn't fire me, didn't threaten to fire me, said there was no way they would even think of replacing me because life happens and we can't control when we get sick or when someone will die. They were more concerned about my health and made sure I knew they wouldn't be looking to replace me. They told me to rest, take as much time as I needed. When I returned they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable db worked from home to give me breaks the first 3 days back. I know what they did is uncommon but if some of you mb's could be half as considerate as they are then you wouldn't have a revolving door of nannies

She is a nice girl and a wonderful nanny. Her sickness made we unreliable and we can't put up with that. We need a nanny who comes to work daily. It's really as shame because I would have loved to keep her but we can't take the risk of her missing more days in the future. We didn't expect cleaning. She did all her duties well and is high-needs and likes to be held 24/7, even while sleeping. She's very loving and understanding but missing too many days is an issue.
How would you suggest that your future nanny handle being sick?
She should come in with the flu and Strep. Humans get sick. This is completely unavoidable.
Some humans more than others. If you get sick so much that you can't be reliable as a childcare provider I'm sorry but you need to find a job that doesn't require you to be available on any set schedule. You people are just getting more and more ridiculous with your support of nannies.
