I would gladly do it for the family I work for. I love them dearly. The child I care for now was by surrogate and I would love nothing more than to care for the child before and after it's born I definitely think that it is an honor to be asked to surrogate.

You must really think a lot of your nanny to want to do this.. what a blessing! Question is, would she be expected to still nanny while carryting, then nanny the newborn... could get messy...

Firstly, I do not think that I would be shortchanging the nanny on the business side of things. She would be getting everything paid for. The amount of paid time off she would get would be huge!

However, I understand that I shouldn't ask her. Also, as for the age thing, I'm 32.

Research surrogacy fees. You are shortchanging your nanny.

Also, it's a terrible idea. If you want a surrogate, talk to an agency that specializes in this. The legal issues alone are head-spinningly complex. What if the nanny doesn't want to give the baby to you after she delivers? What if there is a serious fetal defect and you want her to have an abortion and she doesn't want to (or vice-versa)?

And I want to add my voice to the people who said that asking someone to carry a child, give birth, and care for that child every day, but leave the child at the end of the day and have no authority over how it's raised is cruel and thoughtless.

Exactly what I was going to say. I was also going to add that you're asking a 20-29 year old to give up her body and prime dating age to carry a child. You don't even know if she could successfully carry a child.
I seriously considered being a surrogate for my aunt when I was 25 and engaged. The health risks are ridicious and the procedure is painful. Emotionally, I could have done it for her because I knew I'd be part of that child's life forever and it was family. I wold never done it for a friend or stranger. When you think about it 30k is really crap money for everything you have to deal with. Unless you're desperate, I don't see the advantage. Ultimately, it was discovered my aunt had cancer and that's why she couldn't carry to full term. Sometime Mother Nature is telling us things and we need to listen. Maybe you're not meant to have another child this way, especially if you don't have family offering or able too. Look into adoptation, you're young enough that the wait shouldn't be to long and if you can afford a surrogate you can afford to adopt. Not all child who are given up for adoption are "sick" or abused. My sister was adopted and she's a wonderful thriving teenager now.

In most cases, the surrogacy laws favor the surrogate mother's rights as opposed to the prospective parents' rights. This is due to the fact that legally a child's mother is the woman who gave birth to them. While it's not a common occurrence, it does happen that the surrogate mother changes her mind. In that case, if the egg or sperm came from the prospective parents, it does have an effect on the legal guardianship of the child. In these cases, it is a court issue, and a judge decides where the child ends up.

She could easily change her mind and you could lose the baby and a nanny

Op if your 32 and your nanny is younger I'm going to guess she's in her early 20's. I don't think she will have the maturity to be able to be a surrogate especially if she's never had a child before
