My MB/DB are extremely respectful, as am I. I'm lucky to not work with people who obsess over personal appearance. My clothes are clean and appropriate, that's all they care about.

Hell, when MB comes home she is straight into pi's.

Most nannies are NOT treated differently because of the way they dress which is what you are implying. Not all nannies get paid "very well", but I would say that there is only a small portion that might have pay being affected by wearing yoga pants or jeans and a t-shirt.

I'm a nanny who dresses very casual (ponytail, no makeup, tank under a tee, flip flops, and jeans or yoga pants) However, both my MB and DB dress just as, if not more casual than I do when they go to work. They actually both work in offices. I do their laundry, so I know how many stains and holes their clothes have. The only makeup MB owns is a tube of "church lipstick" and despite 4 females in the family, they dont even own a hair dryer. They are very well off but don't prioritize material things as much as the other families in their ritzy San Diego neighborhood. That's just one of the many reasons I love them so much!

good lord. I wear jeans, yoga pants, shorts, t shirts and all that. The one day I did come in a nice outfit my boss was like you want to borrow a t-shirt your going to get your shirt trashed.

I do dress nice when traveling with them or going out to dinner with their family.

I work with a baby/toddler. She doesn't care what I wear as long as she can wipe her nose on my sleeve and her goopy hands on my pants.

I always bring in extra clothes though

What I wear will sometimes depend on how sick the kids are. For one job, both kids were sick and i ended up changing my shirt 3 or 4 times that day and as the day wore on, the more casual in my attire became. Vomit and nice shirts do not mix. But I never wear tank tops, shorts of any type or anything that shows a lot of skin. I dress comfortably, but nicely in jeans and a shirt, or if the weather is warmer, a pair of capris and a shirt, not a tshirt, but a shirt.

Yeah, I know when I wear a onesie or a set of footie pajamas I get treated like a child...

If you want to purchase a bee uniform for me, I'll wear it. Otherwise it's jeans, sneakers, tshirts or long-sleeved pullovers, and a hoodie for me. With drool, spit-up - and on a bad day poop/urine - mashed black beans, bits of avocado and mango, etc. etc. being ground into my clothes every single day, you'll forgive me for wanting to minimize my laundry costs. I can't afford for my nice clothes - my button-down shirts and black slacks - to be destroyed by daily washings the way my casual clothes can.

I brush my hair but then I just tie it back in a bun (again, I work with a baby) and I never wear makeup to work - he's sticking his hands on my face all day, keeping it clean is as much as I'm going to do. I shower. I brush my teeth. I don't wear dirty clothes to work.

People dress for the job they have. When I nanny for older children, I wear a blouse and a sweater with my jeans - sometimes even nice boots - and keep my hair down, wear light makeup, etc. I'm very thankful to work for a family that treats me wonderfully and has never once suggested I should be wearing anything other than what I have on - even on my occasional truly sloppy day.

I've never been a particularly well-dressed nanny, and now that I work a 60-70 minute morning commute from my home, I wake up only with enough time to put my hair up, brush my teeth, and throw on clean clothes. I wear make-up to work MAYBE 2-3 times a month, and my hair is naturally unruly--oddly wavy, frizzy, and prone to flyaways. If I don't spend 20-30 minutes straightening it every morning, it stays that way. And I don't have the time or energy to wake up 20-30 minutes earlier to do that, because 11 hours of my day goes to commuting, working, and commuting some more. I rarely wear anything other than jeans to work, but I usually wear them with a t-shirt, a hoodie or pullover, and rather old Converse or Vans.

Never once have my bosses mentioned my appearance. They frequently tell me how grateful they are that they found me and how much they appreciate me and the work that I do, though. And this isn't the first job where I've had that particular experience. But I don't know. Maybe I'm just lucky to be hired by less-judgmental families who actually care more about how I focus on and have energy for their children than how early I wake up before work to look perfectly put-together.
