Who cares? Stop having kids if you cannot afford them. Why should a nanny give a dsmnn about your problems? She is being hired to do a job and, like everyone else, she deserves to make a wage high enough to provide her with a good, middle class life.

Exactly. A lawyer's sob story.... now I heard it all. Please!

People who hire illegals and/or pay under the table should be prosecuted as well as those illegals deported and levels paid under the table also prosecuted. A good jail term for a few test cases would stop the illegals and paying under the table.

Depends on the job. Depends on the competition from nannies willing to break the law and work off the books. Depends on the location.

So, no, it isn't beyond apparent.

Depends on illegals who will work for almost nothing,
but they aren't nannies.

Don't kid yourself.
Better to be smart rather than sorry.

Often the truth is excruciatingly painful. So sorry it hit a raw nerve. Sending you a cyber painkiller.

Imagine what their above average worker earns.

And now even that's going up, according to WTOP news. ....For a Costco worker! Nice benefits to!

Don't have children if you can't afford them.

Having children doesn't mean you also need to support another adult now too. If nannying doesn't pay the bills you want to have (no roommates, nice car, cable and high speed internet) then go to college and get a job that pays more.

Exactly. A good professional nanny should be earning at least $30/hr.

With stellar references to back up her experience, and great credentials, sure. Otherwise, no. And unfortunately, there are tons of nannies who have the experience and credentials, but not great references due to vindictive former MBs/DBs (mad when nanny gave notice).
