the thing is, if nanny is doing her job properly, she won't have energy or physical strength left for that. I would rather that she spends hours being active outside with my kids. I do not grudge her nap time hours especially since they disappear quickly as the kids grow.

If my boss offered to pay me a good wage for those duties, I would not be offended. I've gotten coffee, delivered flowers, cleaned the coffee machine even though I don't drink any coffee, etc. for past bosses. I've also told a boss, "That's not in my job description," with the expectation that I could get fired. No one has to do anything, of course, but I don't think asking should trigger outrage. The real question is, why do you look down on maids?

I wouldn’t be insulted, but I’d turn down the idea of adult laundry, and I’d only agree to vacuum the eating area after meals, which I’d do anyway.

That said, as a nanny I do children’s laundry, I clean up after myself/child(ren), I load/unload the dishwasher, take out trash if needed, organize outgrown clothes and toys, and do other things to help with child related chores.

Do I occasionally do a bit more? Yes. But as soon as extras become expected I set a boundary.
