I got lucky as my AP's friends like hanging out with her (and without her!) in our little house with no privacy. They like our little laid-back family (mom, dad, 1 kid) with no stress or tension. Someone is always around if I need to run out for milk. Chocolate bars all 'round. Works every time.

Many times, the AP or AP friend says "I'll come along and help with little Sallie since I need to pick up a few things anyway."

Really, what kind of unfriendly weirdos are you bringing into your homes, folks?

The host mom is presumably buying food that the AP will be eating all week (and like most host families, probably buys certain special items just for the AP). The kid is self-contained for a short period of time. She didn't have to supervise a project or bath time or any kind of active work. If my AP threw a fit about this, I think it would put us in a spiral where I'd become resentful of buying food and cooking for her. It's not like the mom went out for a massage.

Nope, it is a bit much. However, it's still against the rules. AP and her friend need to find a bigger cause/hill to die on

Host mom here..

Her off time is for her to do as she pleases, and unless she explicit offers to watch my kids I do not assume she is willing or able. Even when she offers, I let her know that I am here to take them whenever and she doesn't need to feel obligated to hang out with them in her time off. I think that is a healthy balance to have since her work is with the kids all the time so she should not be doing the same during her off time.

I wish these girls would come and actually fight for a worthy cause...but nope. they turn out to be just as self-centered as HFs.

Why is something that’s happening in someone else’s home an issue for you or your auspair?! Mind your own business and keep it moving

Instacart is a lot more money.

Instacart doesn’t provide a break or a glass of wine

Aww, your baseless, wannabe power tripping is precious.

Childcare is still at a premium this summer. Her agency will have her rematched in no time. Good luck raising your own kids!

MOre and more HFs are becoming less tolerant of brats. 2020 is over. Agencies are in for a rude awakening
