You should have been fired in person rather than over the phone. However, notice and severance are for when there’s no fault. You couldn’t see there were things on the floor and clean them up before allowing a child to eat them? Do you understand that it might have resulted in a perforated intestine rather than a mild case of constipation? And you readily admit that you put a child in a high chair, didn’t buckle them in, then ran off to the bathroom! These are basic safety concerns! You were fired for cause.
