Probably one of the dumbest statements I've read. Someone who is fleeing an oppressed country or is looking for better economic opportunities for their family doesn't mean they have no respect for any law.

Say that to the corrupted ultra rich who keeps getting richer like trump while the middle fights the poor class.
I rather have a honest undocumented neighbor than you.

She is not eligible for stimulus money. OP should give her $1200.00!

That's great. This is the point. I feel bad for this Mom. She just wanted to hear your advice without Judgement.

Then the nanny should leave the country and come in legally and OP should hire someone who is a US citizen or can work in this country legally.

You should stop making excuses for illegal behavior. Do you make excuses for all illegal behavior or only the illegal behavior you deem as minor? You can feel bad for people who knowingly and willingly break the law. Most people don’t. I would also expect you to also feel bad for drug dealers, murders, people with DUIs, etc.

With an itin instead of a ssn, she won’t be eligible...

So it's ok to break some laws, but not others--and OP and her nanny are the ones who decide which laws are ok to break?

Whether or not you agree w/the OP or not, she asked a general question.
All you have to do is provide her an answer if you know the answer.

Why does every single thing have to turn political.....??!

Wow. Answers were provided.

Op doesn’t get a pass just bc you want to ignore shi*ty behavior.

There is no conversion; you pay the hourly rate she is currently receiving and deduct fed and state taxes to get net pay.

It appears no one on here knows how to follow instructions!!

The OP specifically requested that this not be about illegal immigration or debates, yet no one is respecting her wishes.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

SMH.

Then she should’ve solved her own problems. Don’t come on a board talking about breaking the law and think normal people are going to be ok with that.

You’re right. It means they have no respect for the US laws and neither do their employers. It’s sucks for the people following the rules.
I respectfully suggest that you are greatly oversimplifying the issue of illegal immigration in this country.

Why? Bc I’m not ok with taking advantage of illegal immigrants by paying them under the table so that you can save money. Sorry not sorry. If you employee an illegal nanny you suck.

No offense, but i refuse to spend more money then I have to during a crisis. I am not taking advantage of an illegal immigrant, without me, they wouldn't have any job or way to feed their family.

Look, if your job an be done by someone cheaper, that means your skills are not competitive and you are trying to leverage an artificial supply/demand curve to support high prices.

NO thanks.

No offense, but you’re a user. You’re also entitled, selfish, cheap and manipulative. If you want to claim you are helping an illegal immigrant feed their family by paying low wages then you are on a different level of privileged.

Any job can be done cheaper and cheap people always find the cheapest option. You can go to Mexico and get cheap Botox and plastic surgery. You can find the cheapest and crappiest lawyer to handle your divorce. You can find the cheapest and shadiest childcare.

Nanny prices aren’t high, you just cannot afford them. It’s a luxury that you seem to think you are entitled to receive.
