I find it so strange that someone would think I would lie about this. The babysitting is her choice, not sure why I would have any reason to lie about her schedule.

She worked a lot more last month when the kids were off school. She picks the kids up at 3:15 and I am home between 4:30 and 6 every day.

We need an AP for the random sick, snow, crazy work days more than full-time childcare. Not sure why there would be any incentive to lie about her schedule.




Bragging about how "reasonable" a host family is to their au pair is the new mommy wars in this forum. ignore them

Yeah, we just used APs for after-school care too and used less than 20 hours most weeks. Not sure why you find that hard to believe.

Yes, we do this one saturday a month. Other family chips in $10/hr.i always pay $20 for a weekend night regardless of the hours. Makes for a AP that isn't resentful. Small price to pay. AP is happy to make an extra $70.

The answers to all these questions are very simple: check the program rules and if the program rules say "no" then don't do it. In your case, the program rules say "no."
