I’ve seen listings with agencies in NYC that spit on $15/hr.

What are you smoking that you actually think the person raising and taking care of your child should only make $15/hr?!

I live in Pittsburgh, and I pay my nanny $20/hour, guaranteed 45 hours a week with paid sick days, vacation time, etc. We have two small children and she is responsible for the nursery school run, etc. That's the going rate even in Pittsburgh for an experienced, career nanny.

What isn't right is that you think $15/hr is a livable wage for NYC!

How does an adult live on $15/hr in NYC? Your housing costs are even more expensive than in the DC area!

It is not about “right”! Like any profession, some nannies have more education, training, talents and special skills than others and demand a higher wage.

I will never understand why this is so hard to understand.
