We got lucky with this. 3 years ago we used Elle to find us a nanny as we were in a bind. We actually got a great nanny who is still with us three years later, but Elle is nowhere to be found even after guaranteeing a qualified nanny anytime within the 5 years as she stated in the beginning. We recommended her to a friend of ours who paid the initial fee then went dark and never spoke to either of us again taking the money with her. The nanny we got didn't really understand Elle and what she did either.

I periodically check in to see if I see anything and that's where I found this site, which I am now really thankful for because beyond just dealing with Elle, we are moving to Potomac in July.

File anyway. That way, if they use anything, you have a report stating that they acquired it illegally, which will make solving those types of issues easier.

And obviously change all your banking info and freeze your credit (which is worth doing anyway after the Equifax breach).

Finding this thread too late... we just went through this as well in Boston. Has anyone found a way to get anywhere substantial with making a real impact with a claim? She refunded our money immediately when we threatened to file a police report. More concerned about the information they have from literally months of correspondence at this point.

We had exactly the same experience posting a job on care.come, receiving an amazing resume from Lauren Yves, having to talk to Blair Rose from Rose Nannies or Rose & Co:

Then we received an email from the nanny telling us the accident story etc that in the end she was not interested in our position as she decided to stay with the family for 2 more years. Then receiving an email from Blair Rose with 4 amazing nannies resumes! Exact same story!

My husband spotted the scam pretty early on! He said it sounded fishy. We will definitely report this once the government shutdown is over!

This happened to us as well in Houston. Glad I found this thread, we had spoken with ‘Blair’ a couple times and started filling out forms and answering questions to help her ‘find the right fit’ for us. She even provided a couple numbers as references for her service who seemed completely normal.

It started with Lauren contacting us on Care.com, asking us to get vetted by Blair, and then having a car accident with her family requiring her to stay on for 2 years. Blair of course was happy to help out for a $5500 fee.

We informed care.com but haven’t heard anything back. There has to be some way to get this person caught and stopped!!

I don't know if they're a scam or not, but I'm not sure why you would need them if you can already offer $25-$35/hr.. You can pretty much command the field at that rate, and only agree to interview nannies who have degrees, extensive experience, portfolios, and a long list of references.

Most nannies with those qualifications only work through an agency. How would you find ska sitter or nanny with those qualifications, care.com? Nope. Not saying anything about this particular agency, just the general thought.

I just saw this post and they've since changed their name from 'Penelope & Co" to "Rose & Co." Beware.

All initial inquiries should be through the website. Only the initial inquiry by the nanny is limited in characters. I’ve always asked questions about positions and stated that I’d be happy to provide my resume if interested, and when they are, it’s a simple copy/paste.

She asked for my email since resumes cant be sent via care com. When she emailed me it was a great resume and she said she had been scammed so she has Blair at Rosenannies.com vet her potential families for her. Blair had me fill out a survey, we scheduled two times to talk but she never answered and then I felt strange about the whole thing. O never exchanged money, but has anyone had any thing happen from this scam by providing basic information? I tried reporting it to care com, no reply.
