So you follow the "screw them before they can screw you" philosophy of employment? What is the purpose of a contract, then? Just to create a sucker out of one of the parties?
Both employers and nannies have been known to act badly; OP doesn't need to be the nanny who teaches these employers not to trust the next one, and then screw her over b/c it appears that's just how it works. Instead, she could show integrity and model the behavior she'd like to see.
Of course, if she's fired on the spot, that actually solves her problem, doesn't it.
