My brother is in Arlington and his nanny started out at $17/hour after taxes for one child. She does not have a degree and her first language is Spanish, but she is legal.

We are looking for a nanny in Rockville, and our friends told us 18-20/hr is the standard rate.

How many kids?
OP only has one kid. There are olenty of great options in the $15-20 range.

My old nanny just took job in Clarendon with an infant for $18/hour.

I am moving--my nanny is in Fairfax but she is looking for a new job and available July 13. We pay her $15 an hour and she has been caring for our 2 boys for the last 3 years. Unfortunately she can't move with us to Texas. If you are interested I can give you her information. She is wonderful and I am trying to help her find employment after we leave!
