Hi, we live in Chevy Chase, DC. It's seem like you need a housekeeper/nanny. We have four children, but our oldest only lives with us during the school year and spend the summer with his mom. Our house manger helps with drop offs/pick ups, laundry, vacuum, washing all five bathrooms, making all the beds, mopping, taking out the trash, dusting, dishes, packing for trips, and walking the dog. I take care of the food shopping and homework help with the children. That way I get to spend time with them. We give her a car to use, and a bank card for work. she works 7am-6pm mon-fri. She is the BEST! she will work with our family until mid May, if you are still looking for help, I can pass your email address to her. She has worked with us for four years.
Thanks everyone! Very helpful! Our children are 12, 8, 6 year old twins and a baby who will be two this summer. So everyone will be in school next September including the baby who will go to nursery school in the mornings, hopefully! We're planning to live in the Bethesda/Potomac area and will be there in June ... I'd love to speak to her or anyone else who might be available -
martinfamily@email.com is my email address.
I think you will be able to find someone fairly easily, as long as your older kids are generally kind to nannies (that seems to be the biggest complaint of nannies to a wide range of ages -- older kids who resent having a nanny and take that out on her). You're looking for someone who likes working with older kids and is comfortable overseeing homework, maybe cooking with them or going on outings, but would be fine with one year of baby, I would think. So not someone who expects to spend her days at gymboree class and pureeing foods.
