I didn't ask, it wasn't my business. However, I did ask how they wanted me to handle the inevitable questions, and 2 out of 3 trusted me to answer the questions without talking to them first. The other set of parents and I sat down to talk through possible questions that might arise, which ones to direct to the parents, which to answer truthfully, and which to redirect to other topics. I got the feeling that they wanted kids to exposed to at least one trusted person outside of the very insular community in which they worshiped and went school, and I know all three families struggled with family pressing them to be more conservative.

To me that sounds very restrictive. I would want to wear tshirts in the summer and eat what I want outside of work and in my car.
I also wouldn't cover my hair because that's not part of my religion or believes.

OP, you need to decide if you're ok with that. I would absolutely not move in though. They sound controlling and that seems to be the nature of you living in. Control.

I'm Jewish, so yes, I've met a few Jew's over the course of my life. Yes, you can tell in the way they talk, act, and dress. You aren't the only Jew in the world believe it or not.

Its hard to believe that didn't do it, all of the sudden has gone to the extreme. Most conservative Jews are not particularly welcoming to reformed or non-religious.
