Curious: nannies, do you get used to the camera, or does it inhibit how freely you can play with your charges? Being a good nanny or parent is of course about being alert and keeping them safe, but you also have to be relaxed and goofy when you are with kids all day (I do anyway!).

I like seeing my son and like knowing what nanny is doing and that she is safe.
I can understand this, I feel really happy and reassures when our nanny sends photos of my son during the day. Still, I am picturing how I ride around like a horse neighing with my son on my back and how weird I would feel if that were being filmed and watched! But my son was older (2 plus) when I left him with a nanny so I could rely on his response to her, in terms of understanding that he feels safe and cared for, much more than one could with an infant.

I my self a Nanny I know all this where the coming from definitely is an issue but as long as the nannys out there knows what they doing. I shall not be worried in my understanding the Footage my be help full some parents to raise their kids after Nanny left. Also they should have respect for their caregiver she's the one watch over their baby good parents and classy family they would never do that. Good luck all nannys love what you DO that's what maters.

As an MB who doesn't have cameras (but "monitors" our nanny so to speak by the fact that my children are happy to see her every day), I am super confused! Trying to be smart heh? I am not getting paid to parent nor was I hired by anyone to do so, my partner and I chose each other so we are accountable to each other. It is purely a labor of love.

That may be acceptable to your employer, if you are completing all your duties. It will not be acceptable to them if they keep returning to an empty pantry, dirty playrooms, no clean laundry, no good kids meals, kids late to classes, etc. Then you're done for.
Otherwise, nanny cams can show off your childcare skills and time mgmt skills. But if you're off camera sleeping in the basement two hours every afternoon, people will know. Just like if the toddler is roaming around the house while you browse on your smart phone, people will know.
