If a woman is incapable of taking care of her children, without help, then she should not have had them. Also, childbirth does NOT disable a woman. Where do you get all this nonsense? From your lazy MB?

Bull. I've had three kids and this "exhaustion" after childbirth is a load of crap put out by lazy women.


Let me guess. You have a husband at home, a nanny, friends and neighbors to deliver food, and you formula feed (allowing all those people to do that job too).

At two weeks I hadn't even been cleared to drive.

I am a full-time nanny and I get 5 sick days leave and two week paid vacation which is a standard. Who the heck are you to comment like that. Stop being rude hope you are not a nanny.



I am a nanny, Sensitive One, and although I get five sick days a year, I have never used them nor gotten sick for five days in any given year! If you are so sickly as to need that much time, perhaps being around children is not your best career choice.

Sorry, I get 5 sick days per year and if I'm sick I'm going to use them. Your mistake was asking your boss what to do. Either you're too sick to work or you're not, but only you know that. Of course your boss wants you to come to work. This should not be a surprise.

I actually get 12 sick days per year. We can roll them over though, so most people don't use them all. I've had several co workers save them up for bigger things like surgery or maternity leave.

FWIW, I'm a psychologist that does work in the home with children and families. A lot of the homes are not the cleanest or very sanitary, so I do get sick from that occasionally. I'd say I take an average of 2-3 legitimate sick days per year. We can also use our sick time for things like doctor's appointments, etc.

MB here- if you have a fever and aches, it is the flu, and you should not go to work. if it is just a cold, go to work.

by asking your MB if she wants you to come to work, you made it sound like it was a no-big-deal cold.

she's at home with the baby, so it's not like you are leaving her in the lurch with no childcare for the day. if she had a big meeting at work, or clients or patients depending on her, then maybe try to power through it, but you are entitled to a sick day for the flu (and taking only 3 sick days in 2 years shows you are responsible)

This. MB doesn't know how you feel. If you are feeling sick unto death, or too crummy to work, then don't go to work. If you are just worried about being contagious, she said she doesn't care.

It's a bad situation but if you are really sick and not faking it because you are going to lose your vacation, it is fine. Your enthusiasm for the job when you get return will make up for it.

If you are doing it because you are going to lose your vacation days before they reset, then shame on you.

I did have a nanny who used up her vacation because she was going to lose them when they reset. It was the beginning of the end. If she did just that, it would've been fine but it was the bad attitude she brought to the job.
