I know that housekeepers earn $25/hour, but not all of course.

In this area a nanny that does none of the household duties makes at least $25/hr, so if you want grocery shopping also you need to factor that into the offer.

As for housekeepers I have no idea what they make, but I would assume in the $12/hr range.

Well it's not unheard of if that's what you mean my reasonable.
The nannies I know that shop, cook, and do laundry for the family in addition to childcare consider themselves household managers and make a wage on the higher end.
I don't mean the nannies that take on more household duties when the kids age out of full time care instead of moving on to a different family.

In your case just ask. Personally I don't mind grocery shopping .

I have four children, ages 5, 6, 3, and 1. In the past, my housekeeper has done the grocery shopping, but starting this fall the older two will be in kindergarten and first grade, and my three year old will be in preschool 10 hours/wk. I was thinking of asking our nanny to do the grocery shopping once a week during preschool hours. Obviously, I would provide a list, but I would expect that she could get what she wants to eat and make for the kids lunches.

Also, I would likely have the housekeeper, not the nanny, do all of the laundry. Laundry for four kids seems like a lot to ask of someone who will also be looking after a 1 y/o and 3 y/o most of the day.

If you consider Saturday's,I'm available,I know how to cook delicious food, plus I can teacher your kids my original language, interested? Let me knowing

OP here, and I agree! I have no idea how some of the nannies in this post are accomplishing everything that they do during the day.
When I was a SAHM, I spent a lot of time on an evening or early in the morning while the kids were sleeping doing laundry, cleaning, meal prep. I am so impressed that people are getting all of this done during working hours with small kiddos in tow. Hats off to you!!

So...You mentioned you wanted your nanny to go grocery shopping for you, then slyly added in a benefit for HER, that she can buy what she wants for your kids.

Like, you need to sweeten the pot a little because inherently you know it is too much.

Families do this all the time, they will ask a nanny to do something that is not a typical childcare duty, then try to put a spin on it that it is child-related somehow.

I had a family who wanted me to vacuum the entire house during nap time. They stated it was child-related since this would keep the floors free of any small parts/choking hazards, etc.

Believe it or not, there are many many nannies that view their full time jobs as childcare and helping their working bosses run their house well.
They cook, shop and clean during downtime or school time, and have time for the obligatory snooze. They are paid well and they are longterm hires.
They are not the type to be posting on dcum like a middle school girl.

She's a doirmat.

She is not. She is an organized nanny who is good at multitasking. I have always done some grocery shopping in all my positions and I actually enjoy it. I also prepare most of the meals for my charges, so I find that it's just easier to be the one doing the shopping to make sure you get all the ingredients you need.

My current charges are 2 year old triplets and we do about 1/2 of the grocery shopping. DB also does some shopping and is good about picking things up whenever I ask him. My charges love to go to the grocery store with me and we always have fun. They get a bagel from the bakery and are always happy to help my pick out the fruits and vegetables that we need from the produce department. They also have fun counting things and interacting with people while we are out and about.

Before anyone puts me down and calls me a doormat, I get paid very well and I extremely happy in this job. I've been here 2 years and this is by far the best family I've ever worked for.

Some nannies don't care to do your family shopping, but some like to. That's all. Just ask them.

Nanny here. I have always done grocery shopping for every family I have ever worked for. You do not need to pay extra on top of her hourly!! Just put it in the contract that there may be occasional grocery shopping.
