Fantastic advice!
And when you just go for the money then you end up miserable and constantly venting about how much you cannot stand your job or your employers , but you love your charge and the pay is great so you can't leave!!! It's best not to start that cycle.

It's a basic life philosophy to not allow yourself to become a doormat.

Subject: Higher rate for loss of creature-comforts?
I've taken on super tough job assignments for amazing compensation, but would have never done exceptional work for mediocre pay.
Who would do that? A volunteer, which I am not, at least not in my place of employment.
