+1 I am one of them.

She sounds horrible. You don't tell me what to do EVER. To ask me if I would use a laptop instead of the tv to make her job easier is ridiculous. What a lazy piece of shit. I'd fire in an instant for her asking me. I literally hate this nanny.

What a peachy parent you must be.

Bitter mommy with a inferiority complex.

A lot of nannies here today trying to justify their lazy-assed ways.

What does this have to do with being lazy?
Is comprehension a problem for you? If it is I agree it's best your nanny take the lead on all issues to do otherwise might be dangerous for your child.

One of the conditions of our preschool program was no screens at home.

I am an MB and I have great respect for OP's nanny and their way of discussing issues surrounding the child. Very impressive.

We also have a wonderful nanny who thinks that not making homemade soup is a failing so TV is definitely out of the question on her watch for our kids.

Sure you may see some benefits in living a puritanical 1820s lifestyle but truth is that your kid will have nothing in common with all the other kids in school and will always be the odd one out and the "weird kid who doesn't know who spongebob is."

The nanny suggested no TV until five. And the parents are allowing TV at two.

Lots of hysterical nannies defending their under-educated status today and addiction to the "boob tube".

Nanny is no TV. She though you were at interview, but as you have grown into you parenting you have changed your mind.
Nanny is asking so she can feel she has a partial "win".
Watch her.

Exactly she is making you guys the "bad guys"
LO asks for TV " Sorry honey mama and papa have it with them at work." " Lets go blow bubbles"
As opposed to LO asking for TV and she says "TV stays off when nanny is here." or something like that " Lets go for a nature walk."

OP I would tell her no. Just to see how she reacts. Has she ever received any pushback from you on any of her suggestions or requests?

There is nothing wrong with wanting no or limited screentime or to work for a family that has that same value. I love it when nannies speak up and offer solutions, but there is something about this that is pinging my radar.

I agree this nanny sounds awful

Does anyone think TV is a good thing for a child below age three?
