I haven't missed one snow day this year but if you think the roads were fine on Thursday, you need to put down the pipe ASAP. It's one thing when nannies take advantage when there's a little bit of bad weather and totally another when a dedicated nanny who doesn't is accused of doing so because she doesn't want to risk her life when driving conditions are truly dangerous. I would not consider you levelheaded in any way if you were out driving on Thursday. Very poor judgement on your part if you're not a troll and telling the truth.

I'm a nanny, I went to work Thursday and Friday, roads were fine (I live in DC and drive out to MD to my NF) and many others were driving too. I joked with MB about all the people complaining that it was totally undriveable. She expressed how grateful she is that I am so levelheaded and reliable and she paid me a small bonus for the week.

Sorry OP I would be annoyed too in your shoes. My nanny has school aged kids and back up care with family nearby so we are fortunate and don't have to worry about her reliability. She also comes in unless there is a city wide emergency or something. If you can, try to sit down with her and explain that you need to go to your job in order for her to keep her job. If this is ongoing issue, cut your losses and find a replacement.

If you hire a nanny with children you have to expect things like this. Also you have to deal with the weather too. If I can't get out, I can't get out.

I know, you'd be bitching here about not having childcare. Look, I realize Friday was drivable but what if it had been Thursday, OP? Would you still be riled up? Did you drive on Thursday?


I'm the "entitled" MB. Read my post. Thursday wasn't the issue. It was the entire week of paralytic fear, combined w/ an insulting attitude towards us not wanting a live-in.
