Congratulations on your new job.

Do not work with any family who's doing Babywise.

I haven't read Babywise, but I thought they recommended slowly transitioning the baby towards some weird schedule around 6 weeks, but the baby wasn't expected to be on the full schedule immediately. Isn't there a transition between 6 to 12 weeks? I don't know the details, but when I looked up the book a few years ago, it seemed like they had updated the method and added a bunch of disclaimers about the need to check with your ped before starting.

Part of what makes us professional nannies, is USING our knowledge and experience to provide the best possible care.

Not every mother or father knows best, "just because" they're the parents. If they want an obedient sitter, that's not a nanny.

We wish you well.

I talked to MB last night. She was upset when I fed the baby against her wishes. I told her BW is not safe and quit. Friday is my last day.

I've never heard of any baby deaths though.

I raised two children of my own, now both in college, and have a degree in ECE.

BabyWise is dangerous and babies have died from it. It has been dismissed by every childhood expert and pediatric association.

I would most definitely show my employers all recent findings and research on BabyWise and then quit if they still insisted on practicing it.

+1 I also raised my own child and have worked in daycare centers all my adult life. May I speak, PP?

BabyWise is child abuse. PERIOD. Only goofy, born-again Christians still use it.

To OP, if you accompany your MB to the pediatrician, bring up BabyWise to the doctor in front of MB. If take your charge to the pediatrician alone, then mention it to the doc and ask if he/she could talk to your employer.

These are two excellent suggestions and what I would do.

I would not work for anyone who expected me not to feed a hungry newborn. Period.

This wan't necessary. I'm sure you could have expressed yourself without insulting nannies.
